Reviewing the Swarm

First and foremost, Arckham and I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas. I hope you all have eaten well and are sufficiently full just as we are.

So with that aside, we'd like to give you our thoughts on Ben 10: Alien Swarm. Arckham was able to watch this movie ahead of me and I watched it with my siblings as our yearly Christmas Movie. Anyway, for those of you who are not familiar with it, there may be spoilers ahead and well, yes, it's based on the TV Series, Ben 10: Alien Force from Cartoon Network.

Now for a quick plot summary: Ben, Gwen and Kevin find some alien nano technology. They investigate and Ben goes into hero mode and saves the day from the Alien wanting to take over planet earth. It's pretty much a like the regular episode except in movie length.

PLOT
Xy: I think there could have been more twists and turns. It really felt like it's a regular episode nothing new and exciting

Arck: I feel it's a bit empty as to how the last episode of alien force ended.

CASTING and CHARACTERS
Xy: Well great choice for Kevin which is played by Nathan Keyes. He really captured the character. Plus points from me who thinks he's hot. [Yes, Arck knows. :P ] As for Gwen (Galadriel Stineman)and Ben (Ryan Kelly), they could have done better. Gwen, I felt, had no power in the movie.

Arck: I hate Gwen and Max (Barry Corbin). Kevin is dead on. Ben was so-so.

CGI
Xy: I love Big Chill! The voice and the way they portrayed her was right on. This is big plus on the movie. I also like the fact that the queen was really girly even if she was a bug and bot.

Arck: FTW on the aliens.

On the other hand, great job on Kevin's car. The paint job on that Camaro is superb too bad it gets thrown by Humongousaur. I also like the car Kevin built. [Does anyone know what make that car is?]

Overall, being the geeks that we are we recommend you still catch it. It's the type of movie you either download or catch on the tube not really the one you go to the movies for. Why do we still recommend it? Well, for the CG of course. It is this movie's redeeming factor.

MG Wing Gundam Ver Ka Wing Mod

Greetings! This is the wing mod for the MG Wing Gundam Ver Ka. It'll allow the wings to pop open to six different wing pieces instead of the initial two big wings.

Xy got me early Christmas presents which included the knife I used.

Materials needed:
-Hobby knife
-Varying grit of sandpaper
-Plastic cement
-Putty
-Wing Ka (kahit pakpak lang XD)

1.1. Cut the pink lines with your knife.
-The white and red parts to separate.
-The blue part near the backpack joint and the large yellow part to allow room for movement.

1.2. The pink circle represents a male-female peg on the blue piece. Trim that off.

1.3. The red circle and red line represent points of contact for the would-be moving parts. Cut carefully and make sure they allow for movement.

1.4. The green line is optional. I cut mine off.

DC's Emotions Embodied

I noticed that a lot of people are not aware that there are other colour rings involved in DC Comics' Green Lantern Universe. So I thought I'd give you guys some information on it. Since Arckham already completed his collection of rings, this is a follow up.

Arckham's Emotional Spectrum Collection

So the rings are part of the something called "The Emotional Spectrum" which is how the Guardians of the Universe divided the different emotions into colour rings which represent a different emotion.

Let me introduce the Emotional Spectrum (plus their Oaths):

Red Ring- stands for Rage and is wielded by The Red Lantern Corps
which is led by Atrocitus

With blood and rage of crimson red,
Ripped from a corpse so freshly dead,
Together with our hellish hate,
We'll burn you all - That is your fate!

Orange Ring - stands for Avarice or Greed wielded by Larfleeze and he has no corps.

 He has no oath.

Yellow Ring - stands for Fear and is wielded by the Sinestro Corps
which is obviously led by Sinestro

In blackest day, in brightest night,
Beware your fears made into light
Let those who try to stop what's right,
Burn like my power... Sinestro's might!

Green Ring - stands for Will and is wielded by the Green Lantern Corps
which is directed by the Guardians of the Universe.

In brightest day, in blackest night,
No evil shall escape my sight
Let those who worship evil's might
Beware my power...Green Lantern's light!

Blue Ring - stands for Hope and is wielded by the Blue Lantern Corps
which is under Ganthet and Sayd former Guardians

In fearful day, in raging night
With strong heart full, our souls ignite
When all seems lost in the War of Light,
Look to the stars-- For hope burns bright!

Indigo Ring - stands for Compassion and is wielded by the Indigo Tribe
which is so far being lead by Indigo-1

Tor lorek san, bor nakka mur
Natromo faan tornek wot ur
Ter lantern ker lo Abin Sur
Taan lek lek nok -- Formorrow Sur!
(No english translation)

Violet Ring - stands for Love and is wielded by the Star Sapphires which is lead
by Queen Aga'po of the Zamarons

For hearts long lost and full of fright
For those alone in blackest night
Accept our ring and join our fight
Love conquers all -- With violet light!

Alright that compromises the Spectrum, but as you might have noticed there is the last ring which is where the current arc, Blackest Night, is evolving.

Black Ring - stands for Death and is wielded by The Black Lantern Corps
which is owned by Nekron

The Blackest Night falls from the skies,
The darkness grows as all light dies,
We crave your hearts and your demise,
By my black hand--The dead shall rise!

There you have it, the Emotional Spectrum. Another tidbit before I end: the ring bearers recite their oaths to recharge their power rings.

One last thing I'd like to share:

WIP: 1/144 HG Virtue Gundam

Before the operation:
The Virtue was built nine months ago. The builder (moi) made a terrible noob mistake of using pylox paints. Since that day, this model started to chip and get ugly. Time for a new look.

This may or may not be close to what it'll look like by the time I'm done. I'm not really sure yet. I did all the GN condensers with a metallic neon green acrylic, otherwise known to my girlfriend as "apple green nail polish" (shown below). The condensers are the Exia parts that come with the 1/100 Astraea.

Here's the kit being taken apart. Already started scraping some paint off.

Milky. Acetone bath.

Me and Xy wnet out today and we did a little shopping for my Gunpla. A bottle of Tamiya cement, a tube of Tamiya putty basic type, a knife and some sandpaper. That knife's only 36 Pesos and it works like magic.

Pic of the first successful panel line scribed with the hobby knife. This is the first time I've done this and I'm really enjoying it.

I scraped off some plastic in some areas, widened and deepened panel lines, also scribed some horizontals. Pla plates? No. Lil's didn't have anything but 0.2 when I came earlier so no. Those plates are from the sprues! XD
The knife did its job again and I scraped off the Japanese writing on that XD

The left one only has drawn lines as guide. The right one's already modified by a little bit with the horizontals.

First attempt at making panel lines. Good thing I bought putty.

In gunmetal.

Clutter.

Sitting on Optimus.

What's awesome with gunmetal is black Gundam Markers work on it.

Fixed failure! XD

Suggestions are welcome XD

In Brightest Day. In Blackest Night.

Over the past few weeks, releases of DC's Blackest Night came with rings from different lantern corps. The Black Lantern ring came out a few months earlier, and the colored ones came out in two's every week this November. Just last week, I finally had the last two, the red and the green.

So, picture.

A little bright for Sinestro.
