Hello one and all. It's been awhile but we are definitely back and definitely gearing into 2012.
Last year, we had a friend who let us experience (and get addicted to) Arkham Horror. It's a table top RPG game that was created based on how the end of the world would come about as described by HP Lovecraft. Though this was not the first time we had to go against boss level monsters, this was the first time we had gone against them in a board game.
Though the rule book may be thick and the moves per player are long, this game concentrates on team play. Every move consists of 5 stages that each of the team members should be able to abide by. Given that the concentration of the game is to play against the board, players are geared towards knowing how to manage resources and coordinate their moves.
We definitely give props to the creators of the game. The complexity and game dynamics are one of the things that keeps drawing players back to the game. Anything and I mean anything can happen to you or your character.
If you are to try it out, here are a few things that we advise you to do: bring food and drink cause it's going to be one long game; be willing to sacrifice you and yours for the sake of defeating the board; make sure to bring friends cause a small party would give you lesser options; and do not bank on an easy play the Mythos cards can scorn you.
All in all, all those game nights are well spent.
So with all the talk about this year being the year the world ends, Arck and I played around with idea and here are a few things we want to accomplish this year before Cthulhu comes:
Arck:
1. Build a Macross kit.
2. Join BAKUC or GMKWC or GBWC or whatever the hell they'll call it this year.
3. Finsh my Wing Gundam!
Xylith;
1. Blog more [I want to leave something behind, even if it's bits and pieces of cyberspace documentation]
2. Travel more [I want to see the world before it ends]
3. Get better at surfing, swimming and photography.
