Some of the entries on display.

In celebration of Gundam 00 and SD Gundam Brave Battle Warriors (both currently showing on Cartoon Network), this year's theme is based on the two said titles. Gunpla fans of all ages swarmed SM Megamall from July 15-17 to sumbit, view and photograph the entries.

Here is MechaPinoy's coverage of the event: GALLERY

Also, a week prior, MP hosted a support event for the competition, setting up the display cases and putting up members' works too fill them prior to submission of entries.

More pictures HERE.

Judging of the entries will be on July 30 in Megamall and awarding will be on the 31st. See you there!

HG 1/144 Heavy Arms Custom ver. CMG

It's been a while since my last post, and due to recent events I am now able to blog again. I best start the year late than never XD

Without further ado, here's a model built by Carl Ramirez, Xylith's brother. I gave him this kit sometime last year and am very happy with the way it turned out. Painted mostly with Bosny and Pylox cans and detailed with Tamiya acrylics. Sometime after, Crossbone full cloth decals were added giving it an awesome look with skull markings.

And now, pics.

MechaPinoy's Formula 144 Contest 2010

Here it is folks, the biggest MechaPinoy event of the year, Formula 144. The contest is set to be held during the IPMS Nationals event, in SM Megamall on November 15-21, 2010.

As the name suggests, the goal of the contest is to focus on the 1:144 scale GunPla models. All 1:144 Bandai kits are eligible be it retro, HG, FG, ungraded or the more recent RG. There will be two categories: Beginner and Experienced.

For the Beginner bracket, the kits should be built out of the box, meaning no modifications or add-ons. Only the contents of the kit itself can be used. Competition in this category is based solely on basic kit building skills such as sealing, painting and proper assembly. Custom paint jobs are welcome.

For the Experienced bracket, mods are all-out as long as all parts are 1:144 scale or non-scale such as Kotobukiya add-ons. Contestants that have won before may only participate in this category.

WIP: HG Zaku Phantom Spawn Custom FINAL

Getting there. I realized I havent been updating my blog much. So many photos have gone by.

Backpack overview.

Marks and topcoat. Bosny Flat Clear.

Chain chuvaness. Wrists, left knee and right waist.

Thruster bells to give it a Char-three-times-faster-than-a-normal-zaku feel.

Mods on the shoulders.

Noob weathering.

So, Choliks gave me a bazooka (thanks, man!) to add so did that and I got rid of the teeny weeny Zaku machine gun. Also, I bought Simon's Zapper Zaku (thanks, man!) to get his gatling gun this last Mechameet. Zaku + gatling gun = WIN.

So I scrapped the left shield, and put the right shield on the left.

Zipper thing for the gatling's belt clip. Superglued the tips before cutting just to make sure it doesn't split down the middle.

WIP: HG Zaku Phantom Spawn Custom Part 3

Seems I've been forgetting to update this. It's already completed though XD
Quick update for now.

Cement didn't do it all the way for the thigh seams so I had to putty.

Mono eye cut out from MG Wing Ka's beam saber runner. I knew the translucent green plastic would come handy someday.

I cleaned my desk up coz it was too messy to work anymore. There, nice and neat. Did this while curing cement, glue and putty.
